      Learning Outcomes of UE

      <b>For the Language part of this Unit:</b>
      Students will, upon completion of these modules, be proficient in English at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
      They will be able to:
      - understand a wide range of demanding longer texts and their implied meanings;
      - speak fluently and spontaneously without much obvious groping for words;
      - speak about complex subjects in a clear and well-structured manner and show their controlled use of the organizational, connecting and cohesive patterns within discourse.
      <b>For the Translation part the students will be capable of: </b>
      -    understanding the challenges of general translation and carrying out any research necessary to solve those challenges;-    accurately translating, in writing, general texts from English into correct French and in the appropriate style;-    translating and/or summarizing general texts orally, without any mistranslations and at the normal rate of speech delivery.

      Content of UE

      <b>For the Language part of this Unit:</b> 
      Analysis of and commentary on textual and audiovisual documents selected for their relevance to the socio-cultural context of the studied language. Activities targeting linguistic and cultural knowledge, but also discursive, functional and heuristic skills.
      <b>For the Translation part:</b> 
      Written translation of non-specialized texts of variable length, with highlighting of the common translation pitfalls and of the intertextual conventions in the source and target language.
      Oral translation, exhaustive or summarized, of shorter general texts.
