Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Upon completion of the language courses of the second block, students will have a good command of the foreign language at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Students will be able to: - understand articles and reports dealing with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt a particular stance or viewpoint; - understand contemporary prose; - write clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects related to their fields of interest, which give information or give reasons in support of or against a particular point of view. - follow a lengthy speech, a complex argument on a reasonably familiar topic, TV news and current affairs programmes, as well as films in standard dialect; - interact with native speakers, take part in a conversation, express and defend an opinion; - give clear, detailed verbal descriptions on subjects related to their fields of interest and express opinions about current events;
Content of UE
Commented reading of factual and literary texts. Writing exercises. Analysis and commented reading of varied texts (content, style, length, function). Production of texts with implementation of compensation, control and correction strategies: - summarizing information and arguments from various sources; - development of personal arguments. Listening to and comment on audio(-visual) recordings; Speaking exercises; Analysis and commentary of audio(-visual) documents in standard dialect involving native speakers on familiar or topical issues; Oral exercises; - detailed description and presentation of general topics; - personal argumentation; - interactions.
Prior Experience
A solid grounding in English language (European Framework of Reference for Languages B1+ or higher).
