Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

Students will be proficient in Spanish at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  They will be able to:
- identify, put into perspective and describe important events considered to be part of the general (i.e. historical, geographical or socioeconomic) culture of a native speaker;
- do relevant research on these topics;
- give a comprehensive and coherent account of the way they tackled the problems encountered in their research.

Content of UE

Analysis of and commentary on textual and audiovisual documents selected for their relevance to the socio-cultural context of the studied language. Activities targeting linguistic and cultural knowledge, but also discursive, functional and heuristic skills. Students will become acquainted with the geographical, historical and socioeconomic context of the language they are studying. They will have to do research and hand in personal assignments on questions related to these topics.
