Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals
    • Have developed the learning skills needed to undertake further studies with a sufficient degree of autonomy
  • Provide clear and accurate information
    • Communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to a qualified scientific partner
  • Grow personally and professionally
    • Have developed, in the context of chemistry, generic skills that are applicable in many other contexts, particularly in the use of the English language, scientific programming, and safety and risk in the laboratory
  • Have a rigorous scientific approach
    • Gather and interpret relevant scientific data and critically analyse it considering scientific, ethical and environmental aspects

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the course students will be able to understand the principle conceptions of science and understand the limits of these epistemologies.

Content of UE

The main epistemologies will be studied: inductivism, Popper, Kuhn, Lakatos, Feyerabend. They will also be critiqued, putting them in parallel with one another concerning their conceptions of science, progress and scientific method.
