Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals
    • Understand the key areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry, as well as basic knowledge required in mathematics, biology and physics
  • Collaborate and work in a team
    • Have developed practical skills in chemistry through practical sessions in the laboratory, including analytical, organic and physical chemistry, during which they have worked individually or in groups.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the instruction, the students will be able to :
- understand and apply the basic principles of physics (classical mechanics, geometrical optics, thermodynamics)
- develop the theory from observations in a logical and rigorous way
- develop models with a scientific and mathematical approach

Content of UE

Mechanics: kinematics, dynamics, work, energy, momentum, center of mass, rotation, torque, angular momentum, gravitation.
Geometrical optics: reflection, refraction, mirrors, lenses, optical instruments, vision.
Thermodynamics: temperature, ideal gases, first law, kinetic theory, second law.

Prior Experience

Basic mathematics (derivation, integration, trigonometry)

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1

  • Oral examination
  • Practical test
  • Quoted exercices

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Oral exam (75%)
Quoted exercices, laboratory works (25%) Practical classes and/or sessions of exercises are the object of a continuous certificative evaluation. For practical classes, it consists of the face-to-face evaluation of the participation in laboratories. Reports will be considered only in case of effective participation of the student. For the sessions of exercices classes, the evaluation is made during quoted exercises. In every case, an unjustified absence of the student by a medical certificate will entail a nil note.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q3

  • Oral examination

Q3 UE Assessment Comments

Not applicable
