Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • 1. Pharmaceutical expertise: Use a foundation of concepts and knowledge in health sciences and pharmaceutical sciences.
    • Understand how the human body works by using knowledge of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, immunology, microbiology and pathology under the dual approach of normal and pathological conditions in order to understand the action of medications on the body.
    • Understand the basic concepts of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics
    • Understand compounds for pharmaceutical application regarding their chemical structures, their structure-activity relationships, their physicochemical properties, their origins (synthetic, semi-synthetic, natural), their analytical control methods and their areas of use from a therapeutic point of view.
  • 2. Scientific method: Solve pharmaceutical problems using their knowledge and critical mind.
    • Use a hypothesis in inductive, deductive or abductive reasoning
    • Develop a critical, practical and analytical mind
  • 3. Communication: Communicate in an appropriate, efficient, rigorous and respectful way in a professional perspective.
    • Understand the basic rules of French and of English (grammar, punctuation, connectors, etc.).
    • Use a rich vocabulary linking concepts and words accurately
    • Adapt lexical and syntactic choices in communication register (everyday language, medical language or scientific terminology)
    • Listen and empathise
    • Work in a team
    • Implement ICT in an appropriate manner
    • Share knowledge and information
  • 4. Sense of responsibility: Act ethically and professionally.
    • Understand a global approach to health incorporating prevention and screening
    • Identify community health problems in the various teachings
    • Understand the concepts underlying health education
    • Be aware of the concept of "pharmaceutical care"
    • Base their reasoning on the data from the scientific literature
    • Understand and respect the limits of their field of activity
    • Respect the diversity of gender, culture and opinion
    • Show loyalty and scientific honesty (in teamwork and in respecting the results and the work of others)
  • 5. Quality: Assess themself, expand their knowledge and adapt their attitude.

    • Integrate an economic dimension in their pharmaceutical practice
    • Be aware of the concepts of good business practices and quality management.

Learning Outcomes of UE

The EU aims to introduce to students, future pharmacists, basic knowledge related to the practice in pharmacies. Both through observation training that preparatory seminars, various skills are developed (see below table above).

Content of UE

Four main themes will be treated: Medicines; magisterial preparations; deliveries medication, counseling and therapeutic education;
scientific documentation
