Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be able to: Identify the constraints of an electrical installation in a dwelling, specify standards, regulations and laws in force in Belgium; describe and criticize different ventilation systems of a building, calculate flow rates and size ventilation ducts;calculate the ventilation heat losses;describe the Walloon’s regulations on ventilation;cite and criticize the various components of a heating system;cite and explain the different efficiencies of a boiler;cite the advantages and disadvantages of fossil fuels and renewable energy for heating;mention the rules of good design of a chimney;cite and criticize various systems for producing hot water;define the basic concepts in acoustics; define noise levels; define acoustic correction and direct and diffuse fields;cite and explain the techniques of acoustic correction;define and explain sound insulation;explain the techniques of sound insulation;

Content of UE

Electricity: electrical standards in a dwelling; RGIE;Ventilation; The basic and intensive ventilation;Sizing; ventilation systems; Special rooms, air-tightness; regulation.Heating: Technology, thermal comfort, type of fuels;Central heating systems; heat production, storage, fireplaces, boiler, controls, hot water;Acoustics: wave-period-frequency-amplitude-propagation velocity;Sound Waves: sound levels; acoustic correction; sound insulation;
