Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Further to the opening up of architecture and of plastic arts, movements and vanguards which come to inspire modern architecture before the advent of the charter of Athens (1943). The crossed study of artistic disciplines, the analysis of theories of Vanguards in the XXth century s. and the study of case of architectural writings and of plastic arts aims at developing following competences:
1. identify an architectural or plastic work and his author (painting, sculpture) and justify his attribution in a vanguard, and his epoch (factors of artistic and cultural context);
2. apply the vocabulary specific for the domain of architecture and of contemporary arts; 3. explain the specific approach of architectural conception for every before guard and examine brought solutions in a critical way;
4. define the mode of integration in the site and interpret effects in the course of external and internal wandering;
5. analyse the residential programme according to the different logic of composition: architectonic morphology / structure, organisation space fonctionnelle/articulation, constructive / implemented mode in work, materials / techniques, development inside / integration plastic arts (painting, sculpture or installation);
6. differentiate innovations and influence between different studied vanguards. The purpose of lesson aims at deepening knowledge and applicable practices of approach and architectural conception of the modern building of the XXth century s.
Content of UE
This lesson approaches movements and vanguards in Architecture and Plastic arts which punctuate the period of the end of the XIXth century s at the end of the XXth century s" (from Crystal Palace de Paxton in 1851 to the Modulor du Corbusier in 1951):
- CHAP. I: of the Romanticism in rationnaliste architecture - CHAP II: from Rationnalisme at the School of Chicago - CHAP III: For a complete art: of Art nouveau in the Viennese Secession - CHAP IV: The way of modernism between Adolf Loos and Frank Lloyd Wright - CHAP V: The first Vanguards in XXES: Futurism, Néoplasticisme du Stijl and Constructivism - CHAP VI: The ways of Fonctionnalisme: architecture expressionist and BAUHAUS CHAP. VII. The Utopia of internationale architecture: of New Mind in Charter from Athens to Modulor
