Content of Learning Activity
After a review of the structure of DNA, its modifications and gene expression ( replication , transcription, translation and compensation ), the course will cover the main techniques related to molecular biology , the genetic engineering ( electrophoresis of DNA , DNA cloning , restriction enzyme , ...) to transgenesis ; but also more modern techniques derived from the discovery of the human genome as microarray DNA , or pharmacogenomics techniques that lead us towards personalized medicine . The exercises and practical work will illustrate the theoretical lecture. The student will learn (1) how to understand and perform an experimental protocol, (2) how to analyse data and look for information on internet, (3) how to set up the best strategy to answer a scientific question. Moreover, during a team work entitled “Du gène à la physiopathologie: une approche intégrée », the students will have reminders of the specific biochemistry notions to realize the work. Demonstration of the use of different databases requisite to realize the work. Group exercise on a specific case from a gene acronym and a pathology.
