Content of Learning Activity
The course describes the molecular and cellular basis of cancer. It covers the following topics: cancer genetics, cell cycle, causes of cancer, classification, staging, tumor biology, stem cells, tumor suppressor genes, mechanisms of DNA repair, viruses, alteration of the immune system, environmental factors, detection and diagnosis of cancer, conventional treatments and new therapies, cancer prevention, screening and genetic testing.
