Content of Learning Activity

First, the course proposes to address the role of public space within the framework of a territorial change process. In particular, we will see the dissonances betwwen a conceived and planned space and this same space once lived and perceived.

Then, the course proposes a set of criteria to analyse urban spaces. The spatial characteristics will be seen through the notions of limit, opening, threshold and path. The characteristics linked to the atmosphere of a space will be addressed through the types of uses, the temporal aspects, the used materials or their implementation.

In accordance to these contextual elements, the course introduces a great variety of approaches in terms of ephemeral architectures, likely to create or reinforce urban ambiances. A far as possible, visits of events will be proposed, in order to open a critical thinking from the notions seen during the course.
