Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • In the field of biological sciences and particularly in the field of the biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
  • Conduct extensive research and development projects related to biological sciences, in biochemistry and in molecular and cell biology.
    • Apply, mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired in order to help lead and complete a project.
    • Contributing to a project by mastering its complexity and taking into account the objectives, allocated resources and constraints that characterise it.
    • Show initiative and be able to work independently and in teams.
  • Manage and lead research, development and innovation projects.
    • Understand unprecedented problems in biological sciences, and more specifically in biochemistry and molecular and cell biology and its applications.
    • Organise and lead a research, development or innovation project to completion.
    • Methodically research valid scientific information, critically analyse, propose and argue potentially innovative solutions to targeted problems.
  • Master communication techniques.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
    • Adapt their communication to a variety of audiences.
    • Master the techniques of written and oral scientific communication in both French and English.
  • Develop and integrate a high degree of autonomy.
    • Aquire new knowledge independently.
  • Apply scientific methodology.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.

Learning Outcomes of UE

To gain experience in the laboratory, to be part of a research team, to become familiar with the research projects and the related scientif litterature.

Content of UE

The Initiation to research is a bibliographical work and should be written under strict rules that you can find below. The work will then be read and quoted by a reporter outside the department in which the student will make his master thesis and will also be scanned by software to detect potential plagiarism. Rules: - The introduction is written in français.- It must include a maximum of 10 pages without figures and references.- It will be referenced rigorously, like scientific publications.- It will also include a full bibliography.- It should not contain any reference to Wikipedia.  This bibliographic work will be judged on both content and presentation by the promoter of the master thesis and a reporter chosen by the promoter (that can not be derived from his laboratory).
