Learning Outcomes of UE

The main objective of the course is to sensitize the students to the problems of recycling materials, through the presentation of the main ways of collecting and processing waste, mainly metallic materials.

Content of UE

Interest of recycling ; concept of waste and life cycle; strategies of waste management ; reglementary aspects ; ways of treatments ; methods of physical treatments of waste and of co-products ; recycling of metallic materials (ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals); regeneration and incineration of waste; stabilization and setting in landfill; plant visit.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1

  • Presentation and works
  • Oral examination

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

The students read a selected paper and prepare a written scientific discussion before the exam (max. 15 pages). Critical discussion surrounding this  paper during oral exam. Quotation takes account of the quality of the presentation of the report and the rigour in the provided explanations during the oral exam, 100% of the note. Exam duration: approximately 30 minutes. The presence to the plant visit is mandatory.
