Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Help lead and complete a major development project, individually or in teams, related to chemistry.
    • Mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired.
    • Assess the degree of complexity of the project and take into account the objectives, allocated resources and constraints that characterise it.
  • Develop and integrate a high degree of autonomy.
    • Adapt and evolve in a new context.
  • Apply high quality scientific methodology.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.
  • Have acquired professional skills in relation to the objective defining the degree.
    • Integrate into a professional environment and collaborate with stakeholders on an industrial project.

Learning Outcomes of UE

Understand the main concepts of quality and company management in connection with European Directives and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 17025 norms ; Understand safety and health (in the workplace) issues in the European and Belgian context ; Analyse in detail the issues related with "major risks" companies (Seveso Directive) (accident scenarios, deterministic and probabilistic modelling, land use planning, emergency planning, ...).

Content of UE

Awareness about industrial safety and labour accident prevention ; laws related with safety in the workplace ; Quality management (ISO 9001) ; "Quality and safety" tools ; major accidents ; quantitative risk assessment ; land use planning ; environmental license.
