Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

• In the field of chemistry, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in chemistry.
• Help lead and complete a major development project, individually or in teams, related to chemistry.
• Mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired.
• Manage research, development and innovation within chemistry and/or its applications.
• Understand unprecedented problems in chemistry.
• Mobilise their knowledge effectively, identify their limits, conduct methodical research and critically analyse scientifically valid information.
• Communicate clearly in the scientific domain.
• Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
• Develop and integrate a high degree of autonomy.
• Pursue their education and gain additional knowledge and new skills.
• Adapt and evolve in a new context.
• Have acquired professional skills in relation to the objective defining the degree.
• Specialise in at least one sub-domain of chemistry.

Learning Outcomes of UE

The UE approaches the problematics of natural products, aiming at giving to the future chemist general conceptual competences that will allow him (i) to analyze the structure of new complex molecules to replace them in a context of known structures and biosynthetic patyhways; (ii) to connect the pharmacological structures, activities and the traditional use of the medicinal plants; (iii) to understand the methods of analysis described in the monographs of Pharmacopeias.

Content of UE

The UE develops strong foundations of phytochemistry, supported by the study of active components biosyntheses; the analytical and pharmacological aspects are also deepened for the natural compounds which do not have an equivalent in traditional drugs.
