Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Master communication techniques.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
    • Master the techniques of written and oral scientific communication in both French and English.
    • Adapt their communication to a variety of audiences.

Learning Outcomes of UE

To get used to scientific communication in English. Students deliver an oral presentation in English about ongoing results in their Master dissertation (10min of presentation with PowerPoint-like visual aid, followed by a 5min questions/answers session questions between the audience consisting of lecturers teaching in Master and the student). The symposium is open to the public and thus accessible to other Master or Bachelor students.

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Assessment of the oral presentation and of the answers to questions. Students will be assessed on the  (1) quality of the communication and the accuracy of their scientific English by a team of English lecturers and on the (2) clarity and scientific relevance of the poster itself and of the poster presentation by Biology lecturers. The final mark is the result is the average of the two independent marks (each mark is worth 50% of the total mark).
