Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • In the field of biological sciences and particularly in the field of the biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
  • Conduct extensive research and development projects related to biological sciences, in biochemistry and in molecular and cell biology.
    • Apply, mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired in order to help lead and complete a project.
  • Apply scientific methodology.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.

Learning Outcomes of UE

To initiate students to main laboratory techniques used in ecophysiology of aquatic animals. After this session, students should be able to measure respiration rate, photosynthesis of symbionts (zooxanthellae), and growth speed of aquatic animals under controlled conditions. As much as possible, the practical part is taking place in the filed (Calvi, Corsica)

Content of UE

Respiration; Somatic growth; Photosynthesis; Bioenergetic; Respirometer; Skelettogenesis; Assimilation; Experimentation.

Prior Experience

Marine ecology, plant and animal physiology. Knowledge in general oceanography is necessary, so this course is co-requisite.
