Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
The main goal of the course is to acquire a sound comprehension of the working principles of compression machines.Both volumetric and dynamics machines are studied.Students wil be able to perform choice and basic sizing analysisThe approach considered here is multidsciplinary: strong links are made with fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer

Thermodynamics of volumetric and dynamic compressors.
Axial compressors
Centrifugal compressors
Aerodynamic losses,
secondary flows
Compressor cooling
Compressor surge, rotating stall.

Prior Experience
Fluid mechanics: Navier-Stokes equations, boundary layer theory, head losses, compressible flows
Thermodynamics: fluid properties, 1st and second principle, thermodynamic diagrams
