Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out electrical engineering missions, using their expertise and adaptability.
    • Master and appropriately mobilise knowledge, models, methods and techniques specific to electrical engineering.
    • Analyse and model a problem by critically selecting theories and methodological approaches (modelling, calculations), and taking into account multidisciplinary aspects.
  • Communicate and exchange information in a structured way - orally, graphically and in writing, in French and in one or more other languages - scientifically, culturally, technically and interpersonally, by adapting to the intended purpose and the relevant public.
    • Use and produce high-quality scientific and technical papers (reports, plans, specifications, etc.), adapted particularly to the intended purpose and the relevant public.

Learning Outcomes of UE

qualitatively locate the role of each element in the global chain of telecommunications; evaluate and compare various options (codes, modulations) in concrete cases of transmissions; identify the sources of noise and evaluate the total performances of the chain for several point-to-point links

Content of UE

baseband digital transmission : spectral analysis of the digital signals, study of main digital signalling formats, regeneration, performance of baseband systems corrupted by noise; digital transmission with modulation: spectral analysis of the modulated signals, study of main modulations, performance of bandpass system corrupted by noise; digital modulations; multi-users networks - multiplexing notions

Prior Experience

Fourier transform; random signals; elements of statistics; theory of circuits; knowledge of the various media of transmission.
