Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Examine a product and determine how it has been manufactured;
Select an appropriate manufacturing process;
Take into account manufacturing constraints (cost, quality, schedule) when designing a product; understand the role of materials in Manufacturing processes and the effect of processes on the mechanical properties of manufactured parts;
Understand the importance of manufacturing.
The course gives an overview of manufacturing processes of mechanical products and introduces the language of manufacturing.
The course is given by academics who conduct research in the field of manufacturing technology and, in the same time, maintain close links with industrial companies, providing education to the forefront of technological and industrial requirements.
Content of UE
Manufacturing properties of metals (castability, formability, machinability, weldability).
Metal casting processes and equipment (expandable mold and permanent mold).
Forming processes and equipment (rolling, extrusion, drawing, hot and cold forging.
Sheet metal forming – shearing, sawing, cutting, bending, deep drawing).
Material removal processes and machines (fundamentals of cutting, cutting tools, turning, boring, drilling, milling, grinding).
Joining processes and equipment (welding, brazing and soldering).
Forming processes of plastics.
Forming processes of composite materials.
Additive manufacturing techniques (3D printing).
