Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Understand laboratory techniques: testing, measuring, monitoring protocol, and security
    • Select and rigorously apply knowledge, tools and methods in sciences and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
  • Understand the fundamentals of project management to carry out a set project, individually or as part of a team
    • Respect deadlines and timescales
  • Collaborate, work in a team
    • Interact effectively with other students to carry out collaborative projects.
    • Analyse personal performance within a group
  • Communicate in a structured way - both orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, reasoned information
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
    • Present analysis or experiment results in laboratory reports

Learning Outcomes of UE

model a simple analogue system with a Kirchhoff network, with resistors, capacitors, inductors, independent and dependent sources, coupled inductors, transformers, gyrators, and two-ports;simplify such a circuit (using Thevenin and Norton equivalents, or duality);use mesh or node methods to analyse such a circuit;compute and draw the impulse response and frequency response of such a circuit, in relation with the position of its poles and zeros in the complex plane;synthesize active filters using analytical approximation methods and a cascade of active second-order sections.

Content of UE

Kirchhoff model; real electric circuit elements; mesh and node methods; equivalents circuits; time domain analysis of linear systems; frequency-domain analysis; two-port networks; specification, approximation, and synthesis of active filters; MATLAB and MULTISIM for analogue circuit analysis and synthesis.

Prior Experience

complex numbers, Laplace transform, Fields-Signals-Systems unit.
