      Content of Learning Activity

Reminder of the notions of lift, drag, Reynolds number and Mach number.
Incompressible Aerodynamics - Inviscid incompressible flows and subsonic aerodynamics: General laws on vortex conservation; Irrotational flows, potential flows and complex potential functions for 2D flow; Superposition principle; Blasius’ laws, lifting profiles; Conformal mapping and Joukowski transformation; Kutta-Joukowsky theorem, resulting force and moment; Catalogue of the lift profiles: effects of camber, thickness and impacts on the behavior of the boundary layer; Panels method. 3D effects of finite span wings: notion of induced drag.
Compressible aerodynamics - Compressible fluids, 1st ans 2nd laws of thermodynamics, Mach number, supersonic speed and rule of forbidden signals: adiabatic and isentropic flows in streamtube of variable sections, Fanno flows, Rayleigh flows, normal and oblique shocks; Prandtl-Meyer flows and Mach waves.
