      Objectives of general skills

      • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
        • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
      • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
        • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
      • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
        • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
      • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
        • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
        • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
      • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
        • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied

      UE's Learning outcomes

      Upon completion of the language courses of the second module, students will have a good command of German at the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
      They will be able to
       - bring out the logical structure of a general text, written in the foreign language; - render the meaning of this text in a correct French; - advisedly use dictionaries and reference documents. I

      Commented reading of factual and literary texts. Commented listening of audio(-visual) recordings. Writing and speaking exercises.   Introduction to the basic translation principles and technologies. Introduction to the translation of informative and pragmatic texts.
