Integrated Assessment: There will be an overall assessment for the entire Programme component (UE) instead of individual assessments for each Teaching Activity (AA)

      Objectives of general skills

      • Skill 1: Have acquired highly specialised and integrated knowledge and broad skills inbiological sciences, adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
      • Skill 5: Develop and integrate a high degree of autonomy.
        • Pursue further training and develop new skills independently.

      UE's Learning outcomes

The major aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the vertebrate body plan at tissue and organ levels. These structures are described for the major groups of vertebrates

      UE Content

Comparative histology involves the study of cells and tissue structures in the vertebrate body. It covers the normal histological appearance of organs and tissues in a wide range of vertebrates (agnathans, chondrichthyes, osteichthyes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals). The course is illustrated by practical works in light microscopy.

Term 1 for Integrated Assessment - comments

The theoretical assessment will focus on understanding the ex-cathedra course. 2 open questions will be asked on the different chapters of the course. The practical assessment (TP) will focus on the review and interpretation of histological sections. The oral examination theory accounts for 60% of the total and practical exam score of 40%.
