At the end of the course students will be able to understand the principle conceptions of science and understand the limits of these philosophies. Students will also be able to consider these epistemological ideas alongside those of scientific method. The student will also have to be able to present a moment in the history of science, to non-specialists, using everyday language.

      UE Content

The main epistemologies will be studied: inductivism, Popper, Kuhn, Lakatos, Feyerabend. They will also be critiqued, putting them in parallel with one another concerning their conceptions of science, progress and scientific method. Futhermore, the course will feature key moments in the history of science, according to the students' interest.
