      Objectives of general skills

      • Understand the fundamentals
        • Understand the key areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry, as well as basic knowledge required in mathematics, biology and physics
        • Provide basic knowledge in more specialised fields of chemistry (e.g. in theoretical chemistry, chemistry of materials, macromolecular chemistry)
        • Have developed the learning skills needed to undertake further studies with a sufficient degree of autonomy
      • Provide clear and accurate information
        • Communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to a qualified scientific partner
      • Collaborate and work in a team
        • Have developed practical skills in chemistry through practical sessions in the laboratory, including analytical, organic and physical chemistry, during which they have worked individually or in groups.
      • Grow personally and professionally
        • Have developed, in the context of chemistry, generic skills that are applicable in many other contexts, particularly in the use of the English language, scientific programming, and safety and risk in the laboratory
      • Have a rigorous scientific approach
        • Gather and interpret relevant scientific data and critically analyse it considering scientific, ethical and environmental aspects

      UE's Learning outcomes

      - to get a basic knowledge in spectroscopic and spectrometric methods for organic molecules
      - to be able to identify simple organic molecules on the basis of spectral analysis
