      • Develop a spatial response
        • Master the means of oral, written and graphic expression
      • Implement an identified spatial response
        • Adopt an applied scientific approach
        • Integrate technical dimensions in the project
        • Adapt their structural, technical and formal choices according to the principles and values of project.
      • Interact with all actors
        • Master the different means of expression available to the architect to communicate to informed publics, or not

      UE's Learning outcomes

      In the term of this teaching, the student will have acquired the general knowledge in domains connected to the ecology, the sustainable architecture and the town planning. He will be in particular capable of:
      - Define and explain carbon assessment, ecological footprint, biosphere, ecosystem, biogenesis;
      - Explain the physical principles occurring in the greenhouse effect;
      - Explain the energy flow and the cycles of the material in the ecosystems;
      - Explain the parameters which influence the thermal comfort;
      - Define thermal flow, conduction of heat;
      - Understand what is a city
      - To explain how a city develops
      - To explain what are the general problems of city.
      - Explain the principles of the "bioclimatisme";
      - Criticize a building according to these criteria;
      - To Explain how work  and  give the advantages of the thermal solar energy, the photovoltaic solar energy, the hot air pumps and the cogeneration;
      - To explain the main characteristics of a passive building or an eco-district.

      UE Content

      The beginning of the course of ecology is dedicated in notions of ecology and sustainable construcrion in the broad sense: the notions of general ecology including the flows of material will be presented. Then the elements of bioclimatic architecture will be  approached including the notions of thermal comfort. Finally the renewable energies in the building, the constructive principles of the passive houses and the eco-districts will be the object of the last part.
      The town planning AA will make discover the cities of Europe and then in particular the city of Mons. Finally, every student will have the possibility to analyze his own living environment (residence, street).
