Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Linguistic Skills - Apply linguistic knowledge to the practice of translation or interpretation.
    • Master the French language at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • IT Skills - Be familiar with and be able to use computer tools designed for translation and any applications specific to fields of specialisation.
    • Master IT tools and be able to effectively use software designed to aid in text correction, translation, terminography, typesetting, documentation research, etc.
    • Keep up with new developments in the field of IT and use it for professional purposes or to carry out research.

Learning Outcomes of UE

-sensitization of the students to the research and the study of the true meaning of the words of Greek origin as well as their semantic, morphological and phonetic changes they have had during the centuries and throw different cultures. - acquisition of the basic vocabulary and expressions coming of Greek and being common to European languages.

Content of UE

-systematic study of the Greek origin vocabulary referring to the scientific fields (medicine, economy, politics, biology, astronomy, physics, literature, etc.) and to the art (theater, etc.). - linguistic and sociolinguistic analysis of the vocabulary coming from Greek as well as a philosophical and mythological approach of the words and expressions. - presentation of the historical context of the words and expressions if it is necessary.
