Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Master communication techniques.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
    • Adapt their communication to a variety of audiences.
    • Master the techniques of written and oral scientific communication in both French and English.

Learning Outcomes of UE

To get used to scientific communication in English. Students present and comment a poster in English summarizing one or two scientific papers in front of a scientific audience consisting of lecturers teaching in Master (session organized as a poster session in a scientific meeting) and linguists. Poster sessions are open to other Master & Bachelor students in Biology.

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Assessment of the poster (written visual aid) and of the presentation. Students will be assessed on the  (1) quality of the communication and the accuracy of their scientific English by a team of English lecturers and on the (2) clarity and scientific relevance of the poster itself and of the poster presentation by Biology lecturers. The final mark is the result is the average of the two independent marks (each mark is worth 50% of the total mark).
