Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out computer and management engineering missions, using their expertise and adaptability.
    • Master and appropriately mobilise knowledge, models, methods and techniques specific to computer management engineering.
  • Adopt a professional and responsible approach, showing an open and critical mind in an independent professional development process.
    • Show an open and critical mind by bringing to light technical and non-technical issues of analysed problems and proposed solutions.
    • Exploit the different means available in order to inform and train independently.

Learning Outcomes of UE

Teach students the basic material to allow them to implement a security policy on computer systems and networks.

Content of UE

Basics of Unix on a security point of view.
Security of operating systems.
Security of software applications.
Network-related security aspects.
Fighting methods against different kinds of pollution (viruses, spam).
Cryptography and security.
Topical issues.

Prior Experience

A basic knowledge of Unix  is useful, but not absolutely required.
A basic knowledge of operating systems, mathematics, computer networks and databases which can be acquired by e.g.

  • Oral Examination
  • Graded tests

Q2 UE Assessment Comments

Oral examination 100 % with lecture notes available
(this examination can take place in English for foreign students, if requested).
Students who successfully passed a prior written examination are exempted from the oral one.  
According to the Studies Rules and Regulations (Art. 37 :"Tout étudiant est tenu de suivre régulièrement les activités d'apprentissage du programme auquel il s'est inscrit, sauf s'il en est dispensé"), regular class attendance (at least 60%) is a condition for being admitted to the exam.
