Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Identify and describe the problem to be solved and the functional need (of prospective clients) to be met considering the state of technology
    • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain basic scientific and mathematical principles
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Select and rigorously apply knowledge, tools and methods in sciences and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines

Learning Outcomes of UE

Understand, analyse and solve heat transfer problems : - identify and explain the involved physical phenomena; - write the equations of the problem (energy balance, heat fluxes, ...); - evaluate the equations parameters (heat transfer coefficients, physical properties, geometrical factors, ...) ; - develop and apply the appropriate solution method of the equations.

Prior Experience

linear and non linear algebraic equations system; ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations; numerical method for solving those equations; first and second laws of thermodynamics; real fluid mechanics; conservation equations; boundary layer; turbulence; dimensional analysis

Quoted exercice: 40% of the mark, maximum duration 180 min Written examination : 60% of the mark, maximum duration 3h1/2 (210 min)

Same as in Q2 : quoted exercice (40 %) + written examination (60 %). Possible transfer of the mark obtained in Q2 for the quoted exercice if it is greater than 10/20
