Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
    • Implement a chosen solution in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model
    • Communicate the approach, results and prospects to a project owner or a board
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in arts, science, engineering and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Select and thoroughly apply knowledge, methods and tools in arts, sciences, engineering sciences and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
  • Communicate in a structured way - visually, orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Argue to and persuade a project owner, teachers and a board orally, with visual aids and in writing
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Identify the different fields and participants in architectural engineering

Learning Outcomes of UE

By the end of this unit, the student will be able to prescribe steel and/or reinforced concrete sections and draw them for execution. This will be possible for any framework system (geometry), usage (service conditions) and localisation (weather conditions). For these purposes and based on architect drawings (AutoCAD format or similar), he (she) will be able to identify the bearing parts and estimate actions to be taken into account according to European standards.

Content of UE

Multivaried reliability - Actions and combination of actions - Reinforced concrete section verification and technology - Steel section verification and technology
