Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain basic scientific and mathematical principles
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Understand laboratory techniques: testing, measuring, monitoring protocol, and security
    • Select and rigorously apply knowledge, tools and methods in sciences and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Identify the different fields and participants in engineering
    • Demonstrate self-awareness, asses themself, and develop appropriate learning strategies.
    • Develop their scientific curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

Learning Outcomes of UE

Reproduce, inteprpret or apply all definitions and properties learned during the course. Manipulate logic concepts. Identify the basic algebric structures: group, field and vector space. Manipulate matrices, determinant, basic functions and complex numbers. Solve systems of linear equations by the method of Gauss. Notions of sequence and their limit. Compute limits of functions. Discuss quantities, their measures and unities. Being able to check an equation based on its dimensions. Dimensional analysis and practical consequence of the theorem of Buckingham. Elements of chemistry: elements and isotope, phases, different types of concentrations, chemical reactions and stoechiometry. Dealing with experimental measurements: manipulations with the correct number of digits. Calcucls of errors. Notion of moment of a force and properties of moments. Link between vector spaces, translations, forces and moments.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1

  • Written examination

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Written exama accounting for 100% of the final mark. The exam will occur earlier than the usual exam session. It will cover all the material of the lecture notes as well as the material covered during the lectures as well as the exercices. The latter will have a prominent weight.
