Content of UE

The course « Histoires et théories des arts » is a course about the different European artistic periods from prehistoric times to the end of the Middle Ages. Our approach is not only founded on aesthetically appealing but it is also founded on the relationship between art work and his historic, social and cultural context. The course analyses the art in detail from three specific angles : 1) the relationship between the artistic product and the religion ; 2) the relationship between the arts and social and political power ; 3) art as a socially cohesive drive.
