Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Understand laboratory techniques: testing, measuring, monitoring protocol, and security
  • Communicate in a structured way - both orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, reasoned information
    • Present analysis or experiment results in laboratory reports

Learning Outcomes of UE

Qualitatively locate the role of each element in the global chain of telecommunications; evaluate and compare various options (codes, modulations) in concrete cases of transmissions; identify the sources of noise and evaluate the total performances of the chain for several point-to-point links

Content of UE

baseband digital transmission : spectral analysis of the digital signals, study of main digital signalling formats, regeneration, performance of baseband systems corrupted by noise; digital transmission with modulation: spectral analysis of the modulated signals, study of main modulations, performance of bandpass system corrupted by noise; digital modulations; channel capacity; multi-users networks - multiplexing notions

Prior Experience

Fourier transform; random signals; elements of statistics; theory of circuits; knowledge of the various media of transmission.
