Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
    • Select and rigorously apply knowledge, tools and methods in sciences and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines

Learning Outcomes of UE

- explain the conception and operating principles of 2 essential separation unit operations: distillation and adsorption - describe and apply adequately equilibrium laws, mass and energy balances (for continuous or batch operations), transfer kinetics and hydrodynamics - use numerical tools and softwares relative to these unit operations

Content of UE

study of two separation unit operations (distillation and adsorption) following a similar methodology; technology; equilibrium laws; hydrodynamics; transfer kinetics; links with heat transfer; simulation/design; effect of operating conditions; numerical applications

Prior Experience

Introduction to chemical engineering; thermodynamics; kinetics; fluid dynamics
